RUN FOR AUTISM is a fundraising program for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR). As a charity participant with OAR for the 2026 Big Sur International Marathon (“the event”), I agree that participation in the event is at my sole risk and is subject to my acceptance of all the following terms and conditions.
FUNDRAISING COMMITMENT:
By joining the RUN FOR AUTISM team at the 2026 Big Sur International Marathon, I agree to meet the following minimum fundraising requirement, based on my registration option:
• $2,000 if I need a charity entry to the marathon
• $1500 if I need a charity entry to the 11 miler.
• $250 if I have secured my own entry into the event
If I need a charity entry to the event provided by OAR, I understand that I must raise the first $500 of this fundraising commitment by March 2, 2026 to retain my charity entry. If I fail to meet this deadline, OAR reserves the right to revoke my entry and release my spot.
I agree to meet the total fundraising commitment by two weeks after the event. If I do not meet my commitment, I authorize OAR to charge my credit card for any remaining balance.
CANCELLATION AND DEFERRAL POLICY:
I understand my registration is non-cancellable and non-deferrable.
I understand that even if I am unable to participate in the event for any reason, including injury or scheduling conflict, I am required to fulfill my total fundraising commitment. I understand my event entry fee is non-refundable and my event registration is non-transferable. Donations received by OAR are charitable contributions and will not be refunded if I am unable to participate.
If I am unable to participate in the event, I will let the RUN FOR AUTISM staff know as soon as possible.
MEDIA RELEASE:
I hereby grant permission to OAR to use, or authorize others to use, any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of my participation in the 2026 Big Sur International Marathon for any legitimate purpose. By submitting this form, I hereby grant permission to OAR to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of my participation in the event or their release, publication, exhibition, modification, or reproduction to be used for news, webcasts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, including on websites and social media, or any other purpose, in perpetuity, by the Organization for Autism Research and its affiliates, partners, and representatives.
COMMUNICATION:
I will provide timely updates to the RUN FOR AUTISM staff regarding any change in registration details, including, but not limited to change of address, email, or phone contact information. I commit to ensuring that the credit card on file with OAR is active, valid, and capable of being charged for any outstanding fundraising commitment.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND LIABILITY RELEASE AGREEMENT
Assumption of Risk
I understand that participation in any endurance athletic event involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road including any unforeseen hazards.
I certify that I am medically able to participate in this event, am in good health, and am properly trained. I understand the nature of these activities and voluntarily assume all known and unknown risks, even if arising from the negligence of the releasees or others. I agree to abide by any decision of an event official regarding my ability to safely complete the event.
Medical Consent
I authorize medical personnel designated by the event organizers to administer first aid and emergency medical treatment in the event of injury or illness during my participation. I consent to the release of any medical information necessary to ensure my health and safety, and I accept financial responsibility for any related costs.
Waiver and Release of Liability
I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, personal representatives, and assigns, hereby waive, release, and discharge OAR, event sponsors, partners, volunteers, race directors, medical personnel, affiliated entities, and their respective officers, employees, and agents (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liability for present and future claims, liabilities, demands, losses, damages, or causes of action, known or unknown, arising out of or related to my participation—even if caused by the negligence of the Releasees, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any injury, harm, liability, loss, inconvenience, expense (including attorneys’ fees, or any other damage ) they may incur as a result of any claim related to my participation.
Acknowledgment of Understanding
