Building
Homes for Heroes – Fundraising Commitment & Participation Waiver - 2027 Los
Angeles Marathon
Thank
you for supporting the mission of Building Homes for Heroes by fundraising as part
of the Los Angeles Marathon. Your dedication will provide help to veterans in
need. To confirm your participation, please carefully revie and agree to the
following terms:
1.
Fundraising Commitment
By signing below, I
explicitly agree to register and participate in the designated athletic event
as an official representative of Building Homes for Heroes.
I understand and accept the following financial responsibilities:
- -Minimum Requirement: I pledge to raise a minimum total of $750.00 USD (the "Fundraising Minimum")
for Building Homes for Heroes.
- -Official Platform (Haku): I agree to set up my official
fundraising page exclusively through the Haku platform
as directed by the charity. Only donations processed directly through Haku
(or official offline donations approved and credited to my Haku profile by
the charity) will count toward my $750.00 requirement.
- -Deadlines: I agree to meet all intermediate fundraising milestones as
communicated by the charity and ensure the full $750.00 is collected and
reflected on my Haku account by the final charity deadline of February 19th, 2027.
- -Credit Card Guarantee: I agree to provide a valid
credit card to be kept securely on file. If I fail to reach the $750.00
minimum on Haku by the final deadline, I authorize Building Homes for
Heroes to charge the remaining balance required to meet the $750.00
requirement for my card.
2. Use
of Funds
I understand that
Building Homes for Heroes is dedicated to serving wounded veterans and their
families. All donations raised through my participation in this athletic event
will be used in accordance with the charity’s mission to support veterans in
need, primarily through:
- -Gifting Mortgage-Free Homes: Supporting the construction and
gifting of beautiful, mortgage-free homes to injured veterans and their
families.
- -Home Modifications: Funding vital home renovations, accessibility
modifications, and custom remodeling to accommodate the specific physical
needs of disabled veterans.
- -Emergency Funding: Providing critical, direct financial support to
veterans experiencing urgent medical, financial, or personal crises.
3.
Organizational Representation & Code of Conduct
As a participant running
on behalf of the charity team, I acknowledge that I am a public ambassador for
our cause.
- -Positive Representation: I agree to always represent the
organization positively. I commit to upholding the core mission, honor,
and values of Building Homes for Heroes throughout my training,
fundraising campaigns, and marathon participation.
- -Sportsmanship and Conduct: I agree to exhibit good
sportsmanship, integrity, and respect toward race officials, volunteers,
spectators, and fellow runners, ensuring that my conduct reflects the high
standards and respect due to the veterans we serve.
4.
Assumption of Risk & Physical Fitness
I recognize that
training for and participating in an athletic endurance event (such as a
marathon, half marathon, or road race) is an inherently dangerous activity that
carries risk of serious injury, illness, or death.
- -Assumption of Risk: I certify that I am medically and physically fit
to participate safely, and that a qualified medical professional has
cleared my training. I am electing to train and
run entirely at my own risk.
- -Release of Liability: I hereby waive, release, and
forever discharge Building Homes for Heroes, its directors, officers,
employees, volunteers, sponsors, and agents from all claims, liabilities,
damages, actions, or causes of action arising out of my training, travel,
or participation in this event.
5.
Event Registration & Cancellation Policy
- -Registration Fees: I am responsible for paying any mandatory
official race registration fees required by the event organizers, unless
explicitly stated otherwise in writing by the charity.
- -Cancellation & Injury: I understand that if I must
withdraw from the event due to injury, illness, or personal reasons, my
fundraising commitment may still apply depending on the date of withdrawal
and whether the race entry can be reassigned. All donations received
through Haku are non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of
whether I cross the finish line.
6.
Media Release
- Media Consent: I grant Building Homes for Heroes full permission
to use my name, photographs, videos, or quotes from the event and
fundraising campaigns for promotional, marketing, or organizational
purposes without compensation.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
By acknowledging this
waiver, I confirm that I have read this document in its entirety, understand all
its terms, and freely and voluntarily agree to be bound by the fundraising
commitments, representation standards, and liability releases contained herein.
